😔Depression Sucks!!😔

I’m not writing this for sympathy.
I’m not looking for pity.
Nor do I want people feeling sorry for me.
So why am I writing it?
Well, I’m writing it because I’ve found myself sliding into the downward spiral that sneaks up on us when we are living with Depression. It’s a spiral that anyone who has battled a mental health condition will know all too well.
First you start feeling sad;
then you start feeling bad for feeling sad;
then you start feeling worried about feeling bad for feeling sad;
then you start feeling guilty about feeling worried about feeling bad for feeling sad;
then you start feeling ashamed about feeling guilty about feeling worried about feeling bad for feel sad.
And so the cycle begins and before you know it you feel like you are being dragged into an uncontrollable spiral that feels impossible to escape from.
Unfortunately, when you’re in the midst of this vicious spiral, what is almost impossible to see is that there is a way to escape this torturous cycle - it’s in the caring hand of a parent, it’s in the loving arms of a soulmate, it’s in the courageous moment when you reach out to seek support by saying 3 simple words - “I need help.”

How a Bad Mental Health Day Sparked My Medium Journey

It was a typical Monday evening. I perched on the window sill with my hands wrapped around my face. I was having a bad day with my OCD — I had managed to stay strong for the entire morning, but I couldn’t take anymore that evening. It is like those Jenga blocks, where one wrong move is enough to tumble down your carefully constructed tower (my tower, in this case, is my resolve to stand up to OCD).

Autism/ASD Diagnosis as an Adult

I've recently come to the conclusion that I exist on the neurodivergence spectrum and it has been a whirlwind of a journey.
I'm looking to be professionally diagnosed and I've joined a few supportive communities that discuss these topics.
As an autistic, what are some of the struggles you've had with the medical community? As an adult autistic, have you been able to easily access the resources you need and if not, what kind of struggles did you face?
What was the process of being diagnosed like for you; or, alternatively were you able to get diagnosed and what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks for any feedback.

Mental Health Resources for families on a fixed income #Therapy #SchizophreniformDisorder #MentalHealthResources #MentalHealth

I’m struggling to find resources for my family. We are on a fixed income and would really like to find resources to help us navigate through my mother’s mental health needs. We want to do it as a family to encourage her to get the help that she’s needs. It’s been very difficult finding resources that we can afford and that work with our busy schedules. If you have any recommendations please let me know!

Please Remember...

For those of you who are hurting, feel like you have no more fight in you, think it is time to give up and want to end it all - I hope that you hold on. It may feel like the pain will never end. One day it will. There will be days where you have a genuine smile on your face, a real laugh comes from you, someone gives you the warmest affection, you will feel content with what it is you have. There are better days to come. I can’t apologize enough for the pain you’ve endured. I can’t imagine how hard things have been for you. I can’t truly understand everything that is happening to you. I can’t magically make it all better. Even though we don’t know each other, I can tell you that I believe in your ability to fight and persevere though the battles you are fighting right now. It is not easy. It never is. But you have the strength to keep going. You guys are Mighty warriors and you are some of the strongest individuals out there.

If you or someone you love needs help, please refer to The Mighty's suicide prevention page at themighty.com/suicide-prevention-resources
You can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 24/7 at 1-800-273-8255. If you’re uncomfortable speaking on the phone, you can reach the Crisis Text Line 24/7 by texting “START” to 741-741. These numbers are here for a reason.

I hope that you talk, share what is on your mind with someone so you are not keeping those thoughts to yourself. Whether that someone is a loved one or someone on this app, I ask that you connect with another person who will listen and care. You matter. You are not a waste of space. You are not a mistake or accident. You have a purpose. You are cared for. You are loved. You are worth it. You are enough.

I am sending all my love and positivity to each and every one of you.

Take care of yourselves.

Please Stay

After reading comments on Mighty Minute, I just wanted to post a thought.

This is a sign for you to stay here. Please. Stay. I want you here. Other individuals on The Mighty care about you and want you here.

Things can feel hopeless and it may seem like things will never get better. Your world might be hell right now and you may be experiencing pain that I cannot even imagine. And my heart goes out to those of you enduring that pain. You are an incredible fighter and warrior. I believe that you have and can continue to persevere through these dark and challenging times.

For those of you thinking the world would be better without you, you are wrong. Your mind is lying to you. Your mind can come up with intrusive and overwhelming thoughts that are false. It is hard to not buy in and believe the negative and hurtful things your mind is telling you. But I'm telling you that you are bigger than that voice in your head that is putting you down.

You have overcome so much. You don't even realize how far you have come on your journey. You are loved, wanted, and cared for. You are not alone. It can really feel isolating, lonely and scary. Reach out if you need to. We are never meant to face these things alone.

If you or someone you know needs help, visit The Mighty's suicide prevention resources page at themighty.com/suicidesuicide-prevention-resources
If you need support right now, call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or reach the Crisis Text Line by texting "START" to 741-741.

Sending positive thoughts, air hugs and love to all of you. Take care and know that you are loved and you belong in this world ♥️
